Ukrainian football player Oleksandr Zinchenko played his first match in 2023. It happened in the match between “Arsenal” and “Newcastle” in the English Premier League.
Zinchenko ended 2022 by starting the match against Brighton in the Premier League. The match ended with a 4:2 win for the Gunners, and the Ukrainian spent 60 minutes on the field, after which he was replaced.
Zinchenko also started the first match of 2023 in Arsenal’s starting line-up. In the game against “Newcastle”, the Ukrainian took his usual place of left defender. Although during the course of the match, he often moved to the center of the field, where he conducted the team’s play.
Both moments in the attack, organized by Zinchenko, took place after the break. The first half between “Arsenal” and “Newcastle” ended 0:0, while at the start of the second, the Ukrainian was able to connect forward Eddy Nketia on the flank, who could not accurately shoot at his partners.
In the 55th minute, Zinchenko started another Arsenal attack. His pass to Granit Xhaka developed the Gunners’ offensive actions on the left flank: the Swiss shot at Martin Odehor, but he shot over the crossbar.

The match between “Arsenal” and “Newcastle” ended with the score 0:0, neither team managed to distinguish themselves. But Zinchenko spent the entire 90 minutes on the field for the second time since his transfer to Arsenal (the first time this happened in the match against Bournemouth, which took place in August 2022).
The only action recorded by Zinchenko was the first yellow card for the Ukrainian in his Arsenal career. He got it in the fifth compensated minute before the match.
