Released in theaters on October 19, Black Adam stars Dwayne Johnson in the role of this anti-hero who dispenses justice in his own way. This way of doing things will not please the Justice Society of America, the Justice Society of America (or JSA).
In the film, this superhero team is led by Amanda Waller, the well-known Suicide Squad boss . She is the one who sends this squad to Kahndaq to capture Black Adam, who has been awakened from a 5000 year slumber.
The team’s leader is Doctor Fate, played by Pierce Brosnan . He is supported by Hawkman ( Aldis Hodge ), Cyclone ( Quintessa Swindell ), and Atom Smasher ( Noah Centineo ).
WHAT IS THE JUSTICE SOCIETY?
In DC comics, the Justice Society of America was established in 1940, 20 years before the Justice League. It was imagined by editor Sheldon Mayer and screenwriter Gardner Fox. The JSA first appeared in All-Star Comics #3 dated January 3, 1940.
This team of superheroes made the heyday of DC during the golden age of comics, the period from 1938 to 1954. The group was composed of the following characters: Doctor Fate, Hourman, the Spectre, Sandman, the ‘Atom, Flash, Green Lantern and Hawkman. For the first time in comic book history, a team of vigilantes was assembled, 20 years before Marvel’s Avengers and DC’s Justice League..........
THE MULTIVERSE IS A GAME CHANGER
In the 1960s, a revolution took place in comics and the DC multiverse entered. The Justice Society is then relegated to Earth-2 and is upstaged by the Justice League, which includes Superman, Batman, Flash and Wonder Woman (Earth-1).
In 2006, after the crossover Infinite Crisis was released in comics, the squad was relaunched under the title Justice Society of America . In 2021, an animated film will be released: Justice Society World War II , released on VOD and DVD.
